ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

Pupils have previously learned the meaning of national values and some examples of national values.

This lesson builds on that knowledge by explaining the meanings of obedience, loyalty, dedication, and honesty and how to practise them in everyday life.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Every good citizen should show good behaviour at home, in school, and in the community. Some important national values are obedience, loyalty, dedication, and honesty. These values help people live peacefully, respect others, and contribute to the development of their country.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of these national values, why they are important, and how to practise them in their daily lives.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF NATIONAL VALUES

National values are the good attitudes, behaviours, and principles that help people live peacefully, respect one another, and contribute to the growth and development of their country.

MEANING AND EXAMPLES OF THE NATIONAL VALUES

1. Obedience – Obedience means listening to and following lawful instructions from parents, teachers, elders, and other people in authority.

2. Loyalty – Loyalty means being faithful and committed to your family, school, community, and country.

3. Dedication – Dedication means working hard and giving your best effort to any task or responsibility.

4. Honesty – Honesty means always telling the truth and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

IMPORTANCE OF NATIONAL VALUES

National values help us to:

1. Promote peace and unity.

2. Build good character.

3. Respect rules and authority.

4. Encourage honesty and hard work.

5. Reduce crime.

6. Develop the nation.

7. Become responsible citizens.

SUMMARY

In this lesson, pupils learned that national values are the good attitudes and behaviours that help people become responsible citizens and contribute to the development of their country.
