CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Criminal behaviours are unacceptable behavior in any community.
A theft is one of the crime Behaviours. A theft is different from robbery. Robbery is the uses of force steal from another person.
MEANING OF THEFT
A theft is one of the criminal behaviors that involves taking other people things a very dishonest manner.
A theft is different from robbery. Robbery is the uses of force steal from another person. While theft means taken something that belongs to another person without their consent.
Bother theft and robbery are stealing.
ACTIVITIES THAT COULD BE REFERRED AS THEFT
The following are activities that could be referred as theft,
1. Lying
2. Burglary
3. Embezzlement
4. Looting
5. Robbery
6. Shoplifting
7. Fraud
8. Larceny
LESSON 2 – PREVENTIVE MEASURES THAT CAN BE TAKEN AGAINST THEFT
Theft is a crime of opportunity that can be reduced by taken appropriate preventive measures. If you are at home, in your car, taken a walk or travel, there are need to take the preventive measures to minimize or eliminate the risk of losing your properties to theft.
1. Avoid isolated places.
2. Don’t walk alone.
3. Keep your valuable item out of sight in your house or car such as purse, wallet, book bag, laptop, mobile phone, etc.
4. Don’t invite strangers into your home.
5. Never leave things outside.
6. Install security camera, alarm, lock, etc.
7. Get a security dog.
8. Lock doors and windows.
9. Know your neighbours.
10. Let a neighbour know you are travelling, etc.
LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher organize the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.
3. Teacher asks the pupils as groups, who is a theft and who is an arm robber?
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils differentiate between a theft and a robber.
4. Teacher listen to the group and uses their appropriate responses to introduce the lesson – meaning of theft and preventive measures that can be taken against theft.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand its concept.
5. Teacher leads a class discussion on the meaning of a theft and preventive measures that can be taken against theft.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discuss, define theft and analyze the importance of taken appropriate preventive measures against the thief.
6. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.
