PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to –

list and explain the problems of agriculture in Nigeria.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

Cost of agricultural products.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of –

simple chart or pictures showing the problems of Agriculture in Nigeria.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

WRITING INSTRUCTION 

Copy as I write or draw as I need. This instruction should be given when you need the pupils to write or draw. 

 

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display charts showing some problems of agriculture for the pupils to identify and describe the identified problems. For example, problems bad roads and transportation, pests and diseases, etc.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify the problems of agriculture as preview on the charts.

Teacher’s remarks – Listen to the pupils and give a cheer for appropriate description of agricultural problems. Discuss other problems of agriculture.

 

OTHER PROBLEMS OF AGRICULTURE 

9. Natural disaster.

10. Pest and diseases.

 

 

11. Absence of able bodies youth.

12. Lack of improved seed.

13. Poor marketing system.

14. Inadequate research and extension services.

15. Poverty.

16. Conservatism.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discuss other problems of agriculture and possible solutions to each problem.

Pupil’s Activities – Participation in the class discussion.

3. Give a board summary;

Pupil’s Activities – Copy board summary.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – solutions to the problems of agriculture.

Pupils to state 5 other problems of agriculture.
