INTRODUCTION
A formal letter is an official letter written to people in authority, organizations, schools, or offices. Formal letters are written in a polite and official manner.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson by asking pupils questions about letter writing and different types of letters.
Pupils’ Activities: The pupils respond to the teacher’s questions and mention examples of letters they know.
2. The teacher organizes the pupils into groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.
Pupils’ Activities: Each pupil belongs to a group.
3. The teacher displays a sample formal letter on a chart or board and guides the pupils to read it aloud.
Pupils’ Activities: The pupils read the formal letter aloud with correct pronunciation and expression.
4. The teacher uses the displayed letter and pupils’ responses to explain the meaning, features, and format of a formal letter.

5. The teacher guides the pupils on the correct arrangement of addresses, salutation, heading, body, and conclusion in a formal letter.
