READING PASSAGE:
Drug Use and Consequences of Lack of Consumer Education
Drug use refers to the taking of medicines or substances for treatment of illness or for other purposes. Drugs are very important in keeping people healthy when used correctly. However, when drugs are abused or taken without proper knowledge, they can cause serious harm to the body.
One major problem related to drug use is drug abuse. Drug abuse happens when people take drugs without a doctor’s prescription or in the wrong quantity. This can lead to dangerous health problems such as addiction, organ damage, or even death.
Another issue is the lack of consumer education. Consumer education means teaching people how to use goods and services correctly and safely. When people do not have proper information about drugs, they may buy fake drugs or use medicines wrongly.
Fake or expired drugs can be very harmful to the body. They may not cure illnesses and can even make the sickness worse. In some cases, people lose their lives because they used harmful drugs.
Therefore, it is important for people to be educated about the proper use of drugs. Governments, teachers, and health workers should help to educate the public on safe drug use.
In conclusion, drug use must be done carefully, and people should always be properly informed to avoid dangers caused by misuse of drugs.
