CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION 

National values are the good attitudes, behaviours, and principles that citizens are expected to follow in order to build a peaceful, united, and developed country. They guide how people behave in society and help maintain order and respect.

TYPES OF NATIONAL VALUES

1. Honesty – Telling the truth and not cheating.

2. Discipline – Obeying rules and behaving properly.

3. Respect – Showing honour to elders, teachers, and leaders.

4. Hard work – Working seriously to achieve success.

5. Obedience – Following rules and laws.

6. Patriotism – Loving and supporting your country.

7. Integrity – Doing what is right even when no one is watching.

IMPORTANCE OF NATIONAL VALUES

1. It promotes peace and unity in the country.

2. It reduces crime and bad behaviour.

3. It helps citizens live together in harmony.

4. It encourages national development.

5. It builds a strong and responsible society.

EXAMPLES OF NATIONAL VALUES IN DAILY LIFE

National values are very important for every citizen. When people practise them, the country becomes peaceful, united, and successful:

1. A pupil telling the truth even when afraid of punishment shows honesty.

2. A driver obeying traffic rules shows discipline.

3. A student respecting teachers shows respect.

4. A worker doing his job well shows hard work.

Reading Passage on National Values 

National values are the good habits and behaviours that help to build a strong and peaceful country. These values include honesty, discipline, respect, hard work, and obedience to laws.

Citizens are expected to be honest in their daily activities. They should avoid cheating, lying, or stealing. Discipline helps people to follow rules and behave properly in society.

Respect is another important national value. We must respect our elders, teachers, and leaders. Hard work is also important because it helps individuals and the country to grow economically.

Obedience to laws ensures peace and order in the society. When citizens obey rules, there will be less crime and confusion.

In conclusion, national values are very important for the development and unity of any nation. Every citizen is expected to practise them at all times.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson by asking pupils questions about good behaviour and moral values in society.

Pupils’ Activities: The pupils respond to the teacher’s questions and mention examples of good behaviour they know.

2. The teacher organizes the pupils into groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.

Pupils’ Activities: Each pupil belongs to a group.

3. The teacher presents the passage on national values and guides the pupils to read it aloud.

Pupils’ Activities: The pupils read the passage aloud with correct pronunciation and fluency.

4. The teacher explains difficult words in the passage and guides pupils to understand their meanings.
