Reading for main points means reading a passage in order to find the most important ideas or information in it. It helps pupils to understand what the passage is mainly about without focusing on small details.
READING PASSAGE: A Helpful Boy
Tunde is a kind and helpful boy. He lives with his parents in a small town. Every morning, he helps his mother to sweep the house before going to school.
At school, Tunde listens carefully to his teachers and completes his homework on time. One day, he helped an old woman carry her bag across the road. The woman was very grateful.
Tunde’s teachers and neighbours like him because he is polite and hardworking.
