PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. pronounce each word of the song correctly as they repeat after the teacher.
2. Sing the tonic solfas.
3. Sing the text of the song.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can sing National Anthem.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
1. CD player
2. Phones for playing songs, etc.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION (HISTORY)
A national anthem is a song that represents its people, history, and values. It brings people together and makes them feel proud when celebrating their country as a whole.
A national anthem is a nation’s official song that is used by a nation on public or state occasions.
The anthem was composed in 1978 to replaced the previous national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee”.
The Nigerian national anthem were composed by five people:
1. P. O. Aderibigbe
2. John A. Ilechukwu
3. Dr. Sota Omoigui
4. Eme tim Akpan, and
5. B.A. Ogunnaike.
Nigerian National anthem has two verses. The first is mostly sung while the second verse is recited as “The National Prayer”.

FIRST ANTHEM,
Arise, O Compatriots
Nigeria’s Call Obey
To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labour of our heroes past,
shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might,
One Nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.
Be sure that, the pupils pronounce each word of the song correctly.
LESSON 2 – SINGING TONIC SOLFAS OF NATIONAL ANTHEM

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher plays children’s songs that lead pupils to sing and get excited.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils singing Nigerian National Anthem.
3. Teacher uses the National anthem song to introduce the lesson and guides pupils to sing it with the correct words.
4. Teacher leads pupils to sing tonic solfas of Singing Nigerian National Anthem.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils repeat after the teacher.
5. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the lesson summary by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
