TOPIC – COMMON WORDS
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. recognize common words.
2. read a selected text to identify the common words.
3. use the words in sentences.
ENTRY BEHAVIOURS
The pupils can identify and pronounce most of the two and three letter words.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
1. Picture books.
2. Reading books
3. Appropriate rhymes.
4. Teacher’s demonstration.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays chart showing alphabet A – Z.
3. Uses songs and rhymes for reading and Identifying alphabet A – Z
Pupil’s Activities – Read and identify alphabet A – Z using songs and rhymes.
3. Uses the chart, songs and rhymes to introduce the common words.

4. Asks pupils to identify and pronounce 10 common in a short passage.
