PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. state the uses of a computer.

2. use the computer to play different games on computer.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can play games on mobile devices.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Computer systems

2. Computer game softwares

3. Items produced with the computer such as drawings, paintings, print-outs, books, etc.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

Copy as I write or draw as I write. This instruction should be given when you need the pupils to write or draw.

 

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s Activities – Display charts showing different computer games, type documents, educational games and storage devices for pupils to identify and discuss the charts with the pupils.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify contents of the charts and participate in the discussion with the teacher.

Teacher’s remark – The above charts to different uses of computer systems.

USES OF COMPUTER

Computers are used for –

1. playing games.

2. typing of text.

3. watching educational films.

4. storing information

5. teaching and learning at home and in the school, etc.

 

QUICK EVALUATION 

Ask pupils to mention 2 uses of computer.

 

LESSON 2 – PLAYING COMPUTER GAMES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display computer gamepad, joystick and keyboard for the pupils to identify and state their uses.

Pupil’s Activities – This is computer gamepad, joystick and keyboard. Computer gamepad and joystick are used for playing games.

Note – They pupils might assume keyboard can only be used for typing. Tell them the keyboard can also used used for playing games. 

Teacher’s remark – Give a great cheer for quick response. Today, we are going to use the computer and some of the above device to play the listed game below.

PLAYING GAMES ON COMPUTER 

Teacher’s Activities – Pair the pupils and guide the to play different game on the computer system. But if not available, you can make uses of all available teacher’s tablets. Handle your colleague’s devices with care and much caution.

Pupil’s Activities – Follow the teacher’s instructions to play different games as instructed by the teacher.

Teacher’s remark – Playing games on the computer systems is one of the uses of computer systems.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. shows pupils things produced with a computer.

Pupil’s Activities – Come out in groups of two to examine what the teacher has produced with computer.

3. Guides pupils to use the computer to play games.

Pupil’s Activities – Play games on the computer.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
