CONTENTS OF THE LESSON

FOCUS LESSONS 

INTRAMURAL ACTIVITIES

Intramural is sport that provides students with the opportunity to participate in competition and fun within the walls of the instruction or community. The students can be in a variety of team sports. The purpose of the activities is bring out the hidden talent of the students.

This kind of competition is known as on Campus leagues. All students have the chance to be both competitive and social.

 

EXTRAMURAL ACTIVITIES 

The extramural activities are activities that are carried on outside the bounds of an institution or community. The school team have the opportunity to participate other school teams in a contest.

 

TYPES OF TOURNAMENTS 

A tournament is a competition that involves at least three competitors, all participating in a sport or game.

There are six (6) types of tournaments,

1. Single Elimination

2. Double Elimination

3. Consolation

4. Round Robin

5. Challenge Tournaments

6. Season

 

SINGLE ELIMINATION 

Single elimination tournament is also known as knockout or sudden death tournament. It is a tournament where the loser of each is immediately eliminated from the contest.

 

DOUBLE ELIMINATION

Double elimination is a type of elimination tournament which offer a team or player second chance to win or exist the tournament for losing in two row.

 

CONSOLATION

Consolation tournament is the tournament that offer a defected team the chance to complete with the third and four positions.

 

ROUND ROBIN 

A round robin tournament is a competition in which each team in a group meets one another to qualify to the next round. For example, football.

 

CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT

Challenge tournament is the tournament in which one player challenges the title holder and the title holder accepts the challenge. This tournament can be one to one or two to two contest. This type of tournament is common in wrestle and boxing.

 

SEASON TOURNAMENT 

Season tournament is an annual or yearly competition in which 20 to 30 teams complete one another for the league title throughout the season. In this tournament, each team has two chances with the number teams in the league. This chances are called home and away contest.

 

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR OFFICIATING IN SPORTS 

1. When you “think” you saw something, YOU DIDN’T. …

2. The captain is not always the team leader.

3. Keep the game moving.

4. Provide courtesy to players when it’s needed.

5. Give a longer leash to those in charge.

6. Give the benefits of the doubt to those who have earned respect.

7. Look coaches in the eye.

8. When in doubt, do what is expected.

9. Answer questions, not statements.

10. Don’t answer the question you don’t have information about.

11. Get the game going after a mistake or ejection.

12. Crew talks should lean toward official with angle or experience.

13. Be 100 percent sure if making the unexpected call.

14. Don’t insert yourself or disrupt games rhythm if it’s not necessary.

15. Let the players help you make the call.

16. When a game is obviously over, concentration needs to be stronger.
