CONTENTS OF THE LESSON

FOCUS LESSONS 

MEANING OF WARM-UP 

Warm up is a low intensity exercises that is slow and steady at the beginning to prepare the muscles, heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature for the actual physical activities. The exercise increase the heart rate, blood flow and enables more oxygen to reach your muscles.

 

TYPES OF WARM-UP 

There are three (3) types of warm up – cardio warm up dynamic warm up and static warn up.

1. Cardio Warm Ups is a quick increase in body temperature and blood flow. For examples – Jump rope, high knees, Jumping Jack’s, mountain climbers, etc.

2. Dynamic Warm Up is a stretching through dynamic movement that will prepare the body to engage in sport activity. This type of activity enable the body to run and reduce the risk of injury. For examples – trunk twists, walking lunges, or leg swings against a wall.

3. Static Warm Up 

is a stretching that place the body in a position for a period of time not more than 30 – 45 seconds. For examples – upper back stretch, shoulder stretch, hamstring stretch, calf stretch, hip and thigh stretch, etc.

 

 

IMPORTANCE OF WARM-UP 

1. It helps to increase body and muscle temperature.

2. It reduces the risk risk of injury.

3. It increases the body flexibility.

4. It enables more oxygen to reach your muscles.

5. It increases your heart rate and blood flow.

6. It prepare the body and mind for the physical activity.
