CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Every child belongs to a family and receives love, care and guidance from family members. In the same way, God loves, cares for and guides all people.

Being a child of God means accepting God, believing in Him and living according to His instructions. Christians are also called to live in Christ by following His teachings.

In this lesson, pupils will learn how we are children of God, the meaning of being in Christ and the characteristics of a model family.

LESSON 1 – HOW WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD

We are children of God because God created us and loves us. He gives us life, cares for us and provides what we need.

We show that we are God’s children by believing in Him, loving others, obeying His commandments and doing what is right.

MEANING of BEING IN CHRIST

Being in Christ means believing in Jesus Christ, accepting Him and living according to His teachings.

A person who is in Christ should show love, kindness, forgiveness, honesty and obedience.

LESSON 2 – MEANING AND CHARACTERISTICS OF A MODEL FAMILY

A model family is a family where members live together in love, peace and unity.

The characteristics of a model family include:

1. Love – Family members care for and support one another.

2. Respect – Family members value and treat one another well.

3. Care – Family members look after one another.

4. Cooperation – Family members work together to achieve common goals.

5. Honesty – Family members tell the truth and avoid cheating.

6. Forgiveness – Family members forgive one another when they make mistakes.

7. Good Communication – Family members speak and listen to one another politely.

8. Obedience – Children follow the good instructions of their parents or guardians.

SUMMARY

Step 5: Love and Care in the Family

The teacher explains that family members should show love and care by helping one another, sharing, speaking kindly, respecting one another and supporting each other in difficult times.

Step 6: Living as Children of God

The teacher explains that children of God should obey God’s commandments, love others, tell the truth, forgive others, help people in need and avoid doing evil.
