The pupils can identify the president of Nigeria, state and local government.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of charts of president, state governor and local government chairman n Nigeria.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

MEANING OF GOVERNMENT 

Government is the body of people who control public affairs of a nation at the federal, state and local level.

 

 

TIERS OF GOVERNMENT 

1. Federal Government

2. State Government

3. Local Government

 

 

LESSON 2 – FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Federal Government is the body of people who control public affairs of a nation at the federal level.

 

STATE GOVERNMENT 

State Government is a body of people who control public affairs of a nation at the state level.

 

LOCAL GOVERNMENT 

Local Government is a body of people who control public affairs of a nation at the local level.

Local government is also known as the grassroot government. That’s, the most closest government to the people.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Displays chart showing the current and immediate past president, state govern and local government chairman of their locality.

3. Lets the pupils examine and identify each person on the chart and their political post in Nigeria.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify the current and past president, state govern and local government chairman of their locality.

4. Uses the chart to asks pupils the name of the president in Nigeria, governor in Lagos state and local governments of their community.

  • Also, to introduce and lead a discussion on the meaning and types of government.

Pupil’s Activities – Mention the name of the president in Nigeria, governor in Lagos state and local governments of their community.

  • Also, explain the concept of government and describe each types of government.

5. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary and write as instructed.

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
