PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. list the rules of handball.

2. explain the duties of handball officials.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Handball balls

2. Handball court

3. Whistle

4. Stop watch

5. Score board

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

HANDBALL RULES AND REGULATIONS 

1. A match consists of two periods of 30 minutes each.

2. Each team consists of 7 players (including the goalkeeper).

3. A player can dribble or take three steps for up to three seconds without dribbling.

4. After three seconds, it is a violation.

 

OFFICIALS AND THEIR DUTIES 

A game of handball is officiated by four officials – two referees, a scorekeeper and a timekeeper. The two referees impose the rules and control the game. The scorekeeper keeps the goals record while the timekeeper keeps time.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discusses the duties of handball officials.

Pupil’s Activities – Discuss the duties of handball officials.

3. Discusses the rules and regulations of playing handball.

Pupil’s Activities – Apply the rules and regulations of handball.

4. Supervises the pupils.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
