CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Modeling is the process of creating objects using soft clay and paper mache.

The moulding of objects using paper, it is called paper mache.

 

MEANING OF PAPER MACHE

Paper Mache is the method of creating objects using mashed or pounded paper mixed with starch.

 

OBJECTS PRODUCED FROM PAPER MACHE 

Below are the objects that can be mould with paper,

1. Lizard

2. Cup

3. Plates

4. Mask, etc.

 

MATERIALS FOR MAKING PAPER MACHE 

Below are materials used for making paper mache,

1. paper (mashed)

2. Pestle and mortar

3. Starch

4. Mould

5. Mixing bowl

6. Brush

7. Glue or gum

8. Colours

 

ASSIGNMENT

Find out the process of making paper mache.

 

 

LESSON 2 – THE STEPS OR PROCESS OF MAKING PAPER MACHE

The process of moulding objects with paper are as follows:

1. Decide what you want to made.L

2. Tear the newspaper into pieces.

3. Soak or dip the newspaper in water. 

4. Sieve the paper from the water.

5. Mash the paper together to give the desired result.

5. Add starch to the paper to hold it together.

6. Apply to the form gently on a sizeable flat plank. 

7. Repeat the process. 

 

PRODUCTION OF PAPER MACHE 

Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class to decide object(s) to be mould using paper and guide them through the following instructions,

 

1. Tear the newspaper into pieces.

2. Soak or dip the newspaper in water. 

3. Sieve the paper from the water.

4. Mash the paper together to give the desired result.

5. Add starch to the paper to hold it together.

6. Apply to the form gently on a sizeable flat plank. 

 

 

LESSON 3 – PRESENTATION OF GROUP’S OR PAIR’S PAPER MACHE

Teacher asks pupils to choose a representative for presentation of paper mache work.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.

 

3. Teacher displays samples or paper mache.

4. Teacher lets the groups or pairs to examine each of the sample, state the materials used describe the process.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify materials used for making paper Mache and discuss the process.

5. Teacher listens to the groups or pairs and uses their responses to introduce the lesson,modeling (paper Mache).

Pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson.

6. Teacher leads a discussion on the meaning of modelling and paper mache.

11. Teacher calls the representative from each group or pair for presentation.

Pupil’s Activities – Support their presenter with cheer.

12. Teacher leads a discussion on the importance of paper Mache using the pupil’s objects to demonstrate.

 

Pupil’s Activities – Analyze the importance of paper Mache in their communities.

13. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively the summary of the lesson by responding to the questions and write as instructed.
