PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
1. explain the meaning of nutrients.
2. Describe the importance of nutrients in the body.
3. list the types of food.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing classes of food.
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Foods are solid or liquid substances that gives essential nutrients to the body.
MEANING OF FOOD NUTRITION
Food nutrition is the essential substance present in the food that help the body to function well. It helps the body to prevent disease and promotes good health.
TYPES OF FOOD NUTRITION
1. Carbohydrates
2. Proteins
3. Fats and oils
4. Minerals
5. Vitamins
6. Water
IMPORTANCE OF FOOD NUTRITION
1. It builds the body.
2. It is growth and repair of body tissue.
3. It gives energy to the body.
4. It protects the body against diseases.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Asks pupils what food is.
Pupil’s Activities – Explain what is food.
3. Explains the meaning of food nutrition.
