By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. describe High Jump.

2. mention the skills involved in High Jump.

3. list the skills involved in High Jump.

4. perform the run off and take off action;

5. perform proper clearing the bar, landing and recovery.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Organizes a safe high jump with basic equipment such as the stands, bar and sand dust in place of foam (if not available) for the pupils to perform each stages of high jump.

 

 

STAGES OF HIGH JUMP

1. Run off – Preparing for take off.

2. Take off – Period between the run and the take off.

3. Clearing the cross bar or flight – Traveling the air.

4. Landing – Finish jumping.

5. Recovery – Standing on the feet.

 

 

WORKBOOK – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Organizes a high jump competition for the pupils.

Pupil’s Activities – Take part in the competition.

3. Guides the pupils to discuss the stages involved in high jump.

Pupil’s Activities – Practice the skills while the teacher supervises.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
