PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. take part in high jump activities.

2. describe a high jump.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Playground

2. Charts

3. Video clips

4. Posters

5. Whistle/starting fun

 

 

6. Stop watch

7. High jump pit

8. Landing foam

9. Flags (red and white)

10 . Measuring tapes

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Organizes a safe high jump with basic equipment such as the stands, bar and sand dust in place of foam (if not available) for the pupils.

Asks the pupils to describe a high jump.

 

 

MEANING OF HIGH JUMP

High jump is an athletics event which involves jumping vertically over a raised bar.

 

BASIC MATERIALS FOR HIGH JUMP 

1. Pair of high jump stands with T – base.

2. High jump crossbar made of polyethylene foam tubes.

3. High jump mat made of foam.

 

WORKBOOK – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Organizes a high jump competition for the pupils.

Pupil’s Activities – Take part in the competition.

 

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
