PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

explain the terms – patriotism, tolerance, cooperation, honesty and self reliance.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Drama or short story

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Tells a short story.

A SHORT STORY 

Once upon a time, there a king looking a successor to marry his only daughter because he has no male child.

He call all the able and interested men to his palace for a test. They all passed and the king became confused and he does not know what to do.

At last he had an idea and calls all the men again to the palace for a final test. He gave each a corn seed to plant and bring to the palace after two weeks.

 

 

After two weeks, all the men brought growing plants but one man hopeless because his seed does not grow.

The asked, what happens to your plant? He said, your highness… I don’t know why my seed doesn’t grow. Then, the king said, don’t worry my son, I know why your seed doesn’t know grow.

Everyone here has lied to me except you. All the seeds cannot grow because they are cooked and dried before given out. So, they will not grow.

The man married the king’s daughter while are arrest and locked in the prison.

 

Teachers/Pupil’s Activities – Asks the moral lessons of the story and discuss other ways civic education can be important – honesty, self reliance, tolerance patriotism and cooperation with the pupils.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discuss the others ways civic education can be important.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class education.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
