This lesson builds on that knowledge by explaining the duties and responsibilities of parents and children in building a peaceful and progressive nation.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Every family has responsibilities that help the home, community, and country grow. Parents have the duty to care for and guide their children, while children also have responsibilities such as obeying their parents, studying hard, and helping at home. When both parents and children perform their responsibilities, they help to build a peaceful, responsible, and developed nation.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the duties and responsibilities of parents and children, their importance, and how these responsibilities contribute to nation building.

MEANING OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties are tasks or jobs that a person is expected to do.

Responsibilities are obligations or things a person is expected to do carefully for the good of others and society.

Both parents and children have important duties that help to build the nation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS

Parents should:

1. Provide food, clothing, and shelter for their children.

2. Send their children to school.

3. Teach good morals and discipline.

4. Protect and care for their children.

5. Encourage honesty and hard work.

6. Pay school fees when necessary.

7. Guide children to become responsible citizens.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CHILDREN

Children should:

1. Respect and obey their parents.

2. Attend school regularly.

3. Study hard and complete assignments.

4. Help with household chores.

SUMMARY

In this lesson, pupils learned the meaning of duties and responsibilities and identified the different duties of parents and children.
