CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Every citizen has a role to play in making Nigeria a better country. When people obey the law, respect one another, work hard, keep the environment clean, and protect public property, they help to build the nation. This is called nation building.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of nation building, the reasons why we should build our nation, the importance and benefits of nation building, and how they can contribute to the development of Nigeria through good behaviour and responsible citizenship.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF NATION BUILDING

Nation building is the process of working together to make a country peaceful, united, safe, and developed.

Nation building involves citizens and leaders contributing to the progress of their country.

REASONS WHY WE SHOULD BUILD OUR NATION

We should build our nation because it helps to:

1. Promote peace and unity.

2. Develop the country.

3. Create a safe environment.

4. Improve education and healthcare.

5. Protect public property.

6. Reduce poverty and unemployment.
