PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain the meaning of family tree using diagram.

2. state the duties and responsibilities of parents in building a nation.

3. state the duties and responsibilities of children in building a nation.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils can state the duties and responsibilities of their parents to them and their own duties and responsibilities to their parents.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of showing family tree and the relationship between the family and the nation.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Family is very important in building the nation, it is the basic and essential building blocks of nations.

Each member of the family has a role in social growth and development.

All members of the family bear the responsibility of educating and socializing their children as well as inculcating the family values.

 

MEANING AND TYPES OF FAMILY 

Family is made of people who are related to one another by blood.

There are two (2) of Family, nuclear and extended family.

Nuclear family is the smallest unit of family that consists of the father, mother and their children.

Extended family is the family beyond nuclear family.

It consists of the father, mother and their children with grandparents, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, in laws and others.

 

 

LESSON 2 – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS IN BUILDING THE NATION

The quality of every nation is a direct reflection of the quality of her citizens and the quality of her citizens is determined primarily by the quality of the families they come from and the quality of families depends on the quality of parents.

Parents must inculcating the right values in their children, such as

1. good quality education

2. good family and societal values

3. good communication

4. great team work

5. learning to deal with different challenges

6. transparency and accountability, etc.

 

 

LESSON 3 – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CHILDREN IN BUILDING THE NATION

The duties and responsibilities of children in building the nation are as follows –

1. Obedience to parents

2. Respect for their teachers

3. Learn and imbibe values

4. Learn the spirit of great team work

5. Have good communication

6. Learn to deal with different challenges

7. Taking responsible for their actions.

8. Be transparency and accountability

9. Cultivate in the habit of good manners and purity of life.

10. Prepare for future responsibility and challenges such as removing child marriage, corruption, etc.

 

 

REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Asks pupils in group or pair to state the duties and responsibilities of their parents.

3. Uses pupil’s responses to the introduce the lesson.

4. Based on pupil’s responses in activity 2, lead a discussion on the duties and responsibilities of parents in building our nation, Nigeria.

5. Asks pupils, what do you think you do to build Nigeria?

6. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
