Dictation for the Week: Conflict, Dispute, Personality, Altercation, Unity, Harmony, Situation, Exchange, Pitch, Pleasant

1. Conflict

Pronunciation: kon-flikt

Meaning: A serious disagreement or fight

Sentence: There was a conflict between the two boys.

2. Dispute

Pronunciation: dis-pyoot

Meaning: An argument or disagreement

Sentence: The teachers settled the dispute quickly.

3. Personality

Pronunciation: per-so-nal-i-tee

Meaning: The kind of person someone is

Sentence: She has a friendly personality.

4. Altercation

Pronunciation: al-ter-kay-shun

Meaning: A noisy argument or quarrel

Sentence: An altercation broke out during the game.

5. Unity

Pronunciation: yoo-ni-tee

Meaning: Being joined together as one

Sentence: Unity makes a family strong.

6. Harmony

Pronunciation: har-mo-nee

Meaning: Peaceful living together

Sentence: The class lived in harmony.

7. Situation

Meaning: A condition or state of affairs
