CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
During sports, games, or daily activities, people may sometimes have minor accidents such as cuts, scratches, bruises, or nosebleeds. Before a doctor or nurse arrives, simple treatment can be given to help the injured person. This immediate care is called first aid.
In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of first aid, the meaning of a first aid box, its uses, and the items found inside a first aid box.
LESSON 1 – MEANING OF FIRST AID
First aid is the immediate and temporary care given to a person who is injured or suddenly becomes ill before professional medical treatment is available.
The main aim of first aid is to:
1. Save life.
2. Prevent the injury or illness from becoming worse.
3. Relieve pain.
4. Help the injured person recover quickly.
MEANING OF A FIRST AID BOX
A first aid box is a container or box that contains basic medical supplies and equipment used to give first aid to injured or sick people during emergencies.
It should always be kept in places such as:
