CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Every human being needs certain things to live a healthy and meaningful life. These include food, water, clothing, shelter, good health and other basic needs.

God provides many of these needs through His creation and through the work of people. For example, farmers grow crops, but God provides the land, rain, sunshine and other things needed for farming.

In this lesson, pupils will learn how God provides for our needs and the things God provides for us.

MEANING OF GOD’S PROVISION

God’s provision means the good things God gives or makes available to meet our needs. God cares for His creation and provides what people need to live.

Matthew 6:31–32 teaches that God knows what we need. We should therefore trust Him while also working responsibly.

HOW GOD PROVIDES FOR OUR NEEDS

God provides for our needs in different ways:

1. Through nature: God provides rain, sunshine, air, land, plants and water.

2. Through other people: Parents, guardians, teachers, farmers, doctors and other workers help provide our needs.

3. Through work: God gives people strength, skills and opportunities to work and earn a living.

4. Through answered prayers: We can pray to God for our needs and trust Him to provide according to His will.

5. Through His creation: Animals, plants, land and other natural resources provide useful things for human life.

We should not be lazy because we trust God. We should work hard, use our talents and be responsible.

THINGS GOD PROVIDES FOR US

God provides or makes available many things that support life, including:

• Food

• Water

• Air

• Sunshine

• Rain

• Land

• Plants

• Animals

• Shelter and materials for building

• Strength, wisdom and abilities

God also provides people who care for and help us, such as parents, guardians, teachers and other members of the community.

OUR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR GOD’S PROVISION

Since God provides for us, we should:

1. Thank God for His provision.

2. Use His gifts wisely.

3. Avoid wasting food and other resources.

4. Work hard and use our talents.

5. Share with people who are in need.

6. Take care of the environment.

7. Pray and trust God.

8. Be content with what we have.

IMPORTANCE OF GOD’S PROVISION

God’s provision is important because it:

1. Helps us meet our basic needs.

2. Shows that God cares for us.

3. Gives us strength to live and work.
