CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
The mouth is used for eating, speaking, breathing, digesting food, and smiling.
The teeth, tongue and lips are the major parts of the mouth.
They work together to enable us to eat, speak, breath digest food and smile.
THE TONGUE
The tongue is part of the mouth that gives us the chance to taste sweet, savory, salty, and bitter flavors.
Our tongue has more than one job.
It also helps us speak, chew and swallow.
THE LIPS
There are two (2) lips.
The upper lip and lower lip.
The two (2) lips are connected together.
It is used to hold food and water.
They are also used to prevent unwanted objects coming into the mouth.
LESSON 2 – REVISION
Teacher helps the pupils to draw and label different parts of the mouth.
LESSON 3 – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher displays chart showing different parts of the mouth.
3. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.
4. Teacher asks the groups or parts to identify and describe each part of the mouth.
Pupil’s Activities – Identify and describe the importance of the tongue and lips.
5. Teacher uses the chart and pupil’s responses to introduce the lesson and ask pupils to point their upper and lower lips and teeth and show their tongue.
Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of tongue and lips with their uses.
6. Teacher leads to discuss and state the uses of the tongue and lips.
7. Teacher initiates and guides analyze the roles of the tongue and lips in feeding system. Note – You make use of biscuits and sweets.
Pupil’s Activities – Chew and feel the texture of the food items before and after chewing.
8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate activity in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the lesson evaluation and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
