CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Every one of us lives in a neighbourhood where we have houses, schools, markets, roads, places of worship, and other important facilities. We also see people such as police officers, security guards, community leaders, and parents who help to keep the neighbourhood safe. When everyone obeys the rules and reports suspicious activities, the neighbourhood becomes peaceful and secure.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of a neighbourhood, the meaning of neighbourhood security, the things that make up a neighbourhood, and how everyone can help to keep the neighbourhood safe.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF NEIGHBOURHOOD

A neighbourhood is the area or community where people live together. It includes the houses, roads, schools, markets, and other places around our homes.

MEANING OF NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY

Neighbourhood security means protecting the people and property in a neighbourhood to make it safe and peaceful for everyone.

Neighbourhood security involves everyone working together to prevent crime and report suspicious activities.

IMPORTANCE OF NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY

Neighbourhood security helps to:

1. Protect lives and property.

2. Prevent crime.

3. Promote peace and unity.

4. Make people feel safe.

5. Encourage community development.

LESSON 2 – THINGS THAT MAKE UP A NEIGHBOURHOOD

A neighbourhood is made up of:

LESSON 3 – PEOPLE WHO HELP TO KEEP THE NEIGHBOURHOOD SAFE

1. Police Officers – They enforce the law, prevent crime, and protect people and property.

2. Neighbourhood Watch Members – They work with residents to observe and report suspicious activities in the community.

3. Security Guards – They protect homes, schools, offices, and other public places from danger.

4. Community Leaders – They guide community members, help settle disputes, and promote peace and order.

5. Parents – They teach children safety rules and help protect their families and neighbourhood.

6. Responsible Citizens – They obey the law, report crimes or suspicious activities, protect public property, and cooperate with security officers to keep the neighbourhood safe.

SUMMARY
