CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Loyalty is an important value that helps people to live and work together peacefully. A loyal person is faithful, supportive, and devoted to a person, group, school, community, or country.

For example, a pupil shows loyalty to the school by obeying school rules, respecting teachers, caring for school property, and helping other pupils. A citizen can also show loyalty to Nigeria by obeying the law, respecting national symbols, protecting public property, and performing their duties responsibly.

In this lesson, pupils will learn about the meaning of loyalty, evidence of loyalty, and the consequences of disloyalty.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF LOYALTY

Loyalty means being faithful, supportive, and devoted to a person, group, school, community, or country.

A loyal citizen loves and supports their country and obeys its laws.

EVIDENCE OF LOYALTY

We can show loyalty by:

1. Obeying the laws of the country.

2. Respecting national symbols, such as the national flag and anthem.

3. Being honest and trustworthy.

4. Protecting public property.

5. Helping others in the community.

6. Speaking positively about the country.

7. Taking part in community activities.

8. Reporting harmful or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

9. Being faithful to friends and family.

LESSON 2 – MEANING OF DISLOYALTY

Disloyalty means not being faithful, supportive, or trustworthy to a person, group, or country.

Examples include:

  • Betraying a friend.
  • Destroying public property.
  • Breaking important laws.
  • Deliberately refusing to perform one’s duties.
  • Giving harmful information to people who intend to cause damage.

CONSEQUENCES OF DISLOYALTY

Disloyalty can lead to:

1. Loss of trust from others.

2. Broken relationships.

3. Punishment for breaking laws.

4. Conflict and division.

5. Loss of respect.

6. Damage to public property.
