By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. make simple statements correctly with the appropriate stress and intonation; and

2. respond to simple commands appropriately.

3. use appropriate intonation for command and response

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can make simple statements and respond to simple commands such as sit tall, jump, sit down, clap one, two, etc.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTION 

A simple command is a statement in which someone is being asked to do something. For example,

Stand up, Sit tall, Hands up, Hands down, Go on , Hold on , Get out, Watch out,  Cheer up , Wait up , Hurry up , Listen up , Calm down , Slow down , Look up, etc.

A simple command is accompanied by a corresponding action such as open the window, close the door, open your book, show me your biro, etc.

 

 

TEACHER’S/PUPIL’S ACTIVITIES 

Listen and do,

1. Look to me.

2. Show your me your Mathematics book.

3. Pen down.

4. Clap one, clap two…

5. Shut your eyes.

6. Open your eyes.

7. Put your hand up.

8. Put your hand down.

9. Stand up.

10. Sit down.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher uses a simple command such as stand up and sit down to introduce the lesson.

3. Teacher makes model statements with the appropriate stress and intonation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils listen to the teacher’s statements and commands.

4. Teacher gives commands to pupils, paying attention to the correct stress and intonation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils repeat statements after the teacher.

5. Teacher guides pupils in making statements and responding to commands.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils follow the teacher’s commands appropriately.

6. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary of the lesson and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
