3. discuss some of the causes of crime.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing people in prison and with handcuff.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

A crime is an illegal act or an offence for which a person can be punished by the authority.

For examples,

1. Falsehood

2. Theft

3. Rape

4. Murder

5. Advance free fraud (419)

6. Sale of contaminated food

7. Dealing in fake drugs, etc.

 

 

WHO IS A CRIMINAL

A criminal is the person who commits a crime.

 

CAUSES OF CRIME 

1. Broken homes or divorce

2. Lack of parental care or irresponsible parents

3. Drug abuse

4. Peers influence

5. Poverty

6. Easy access

7. Politics

8. Deprivation

9. Unemployment

10. Population

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organize the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays a chart showing people in the prison and with handcuff.

4. Teacher asks the pupils as groups to state and discuss the reason why they are lock up.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils state some of the likely offences.

5. Teacher uses the chart and the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction.

6. Teacher guides pupils to define a crime discuss who a crime was.

7. Teacher leads a class discussion on the causes of a crime.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in summary summary by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
