TIME – 40 Minutes each.

LEARNING OUTCOME 

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

1. Explain the meaning of maintenance.

2. State the importance of maintenance.

3. State the materialsnneeded for maintenance.

RATIONALE

Maintenance is an activities that should be carried out on daily basis in order to keep equipment in good working condition. A breakdown in plants and machines cloud be as a result of inadequate maintenance. In all work place, houses, schools and roads, maintenance is needed in order to keep equipment in good working condition.

In this lesson, the pupils will understand and appreciate the importance and needs of maintenance in keeping all tools and equipment in good working condition.

 

LEARNING MATERIALS 

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Wood

2.Metal

3. Plastic

4. Oil

5. Rug

6. Pieces of metal

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

Maintenance could be as simple as dusting a table, sweeping the floor, polishing furniture, replacing electrical fittings that are not again, polishing shoes and so on. These are the basic maintenance carried out by the pupils at home and in the school.
