INTRODUCTION 

Drawing is the act of making pictures of living and non living things on drawing papers, cardboards, etc. using appropriate materials.

It is a form of visual art.

 

DRAWING MATERIALS 

The materials used for drawing are as follows:

 

1. Pencil

2. Ink

3. Easer

4. Ruler

5. Crayon

6. Drawing board/Paper

7. Chalk

8. Marker

9. Pen

10. Charcoal, etc.

 

MEANING OF DRAWING INSTRUMENTS 

Drawing Instruments are instruments used in/for drawing.

 

USES OF DRAWING INSTRUMENTS 

1. Compass

  • It is used for drawing a circle.
  • It is used for constructing angles.

 

2. Divider

  • It is used for placing points on the drawing paper.

 

3. Set Squares

  • It is used for drawing for vertical and horizontal lines turned in different.

 

4. Ruler

  • It is used for measuring distance(s) between two or more points.

 

5. Protractor

  • It is used for measuring angles.
  • It is used for drawing a circle or semi circle.

 

6. T – square

  • It is used for drawing horizontal and vertical lines.

 

7. Cleaner or eraser

  • It used for cleaning.

 

TYPES OF DRAWING 

There are 5 types of drawing,

1. Life drawing

2. Still life drawing

3. Landscape drawing

4. Natural drawing

5. Imaginative drawing

 

1. STILL LIFE DRAWING 

Still life drawing is the drawing of man – made objects.

Still life drawing is the drawing of non – living things or objects. For examples: drawing of pot, cup, book, etc.

Still life drawing is also include painting to create meaning or a visual effect.

 

2. LIFE DRAWING

Life drawing is the drawing of human beings and other living things.

 

3. LANDSCAPES DRAWING 

Landscape drawing is the drawing of the natural features of the environment.

Examples of landscape drawing are river, grass, tree, sun, etc.

This type of drawing is known as scenery.

 

4. NATURAL DRAWING 

Natural drawing is drawing of objects that are not man made objects.

It is the drawing of animals, flowers, rocks, trees, and streams.

 

5. IMAGINATIVE DRAWING 

Imaginative drawing is called creative drawing.

This type of drawing is not real because it is just drawing from human imagination.

Examples of imaginative drawing are – half human and half animals, a lion with a wing, a dog with three heads, etc.

This is a drawing from memory.

 

USES OF DRAWING

The uses of drawing are as follows:

 

1. It is used as instructional materials.

2. It is used for keeping records.

3. It is used for directions or locations.

4. It is used for house plans.

5. It is used for communication.

6. It is used sending a secret information.

7. It is used for decorations.

8. It is used as self expression.

 

BENEFITS OF DRAWING

The benefits of drawing are as follows:

2. It increases self confidence.

3. It is important for problems solving.

4. It enhances creativity.

5. It improves memory.

6. It reduces stress.
