By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain what greetings mean.

2. state the importance of greetings.

3. recognize greetings as a way of showing respect.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can know how to greet.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of pictures of different ways of greeting.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTION

Respect is how you feel about someone or how you treat people.

For example – how you greet.

Greeting is part of our daily life.

It is also an important part our culture.

 

 

MEANING OF GREETING

Greetings is a way of showing respect to people and appreciating them.

 

 

IMPORTANCE OF GREETING

The following are the importance of greeting –

1. It helps to start the day.

2. It helps to start to discuss other things.

3. It helps us show love and respect to one another.

4. It helps to show respect to our elders.

5. It helps us to live and work together in peace.

6. It helps us to keep our friendship.

7. It helps us to make new friends.

8. It helps to promote tolerance, good neighborliness, courtesy, friendliness, etc.

 

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Greets the pupils with love and respect.

3. Displays chart showing different forms of greetings.

4. Asks the pupils to examine the chart and describe its contents.

5. Uses the pupil’s responses to introduce the lesson.

6. Discuss the meaning and importance of greeting.

7. Asks pupils to demonstrate how to greet with elders and one another with respect.

Pupil’s Activities – Demonstrate how to greet with elders and one another with respect.

8. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate the lesson summary and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
