PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. read pictures.

2. identify objects in class.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can read letter ABC and identify objects like book, pencil, chair, table, cup, etc. in class.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of –

1. Charts of A B and C.

2. Charts showing doing words.

3. Objects in class.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display charts of doing words (as in the previous lesson – Doing Words Nursery 1 (Age 3) – Letter Work) for the children to read.

Pupil’s Activities – Reading, eating, drinking, etc.

Teacher’s Remark – Comments and give a great cheer for active participation. Guide the pupils to put the pictures reading in a very simple sentence.

 

LESSON 2 – OBJECTS IDENTIFICATION 

Teacher’s Activities – Organized some objects in class, guide the pupils to identify each of the familiar objects in the class.

For examples,

Pick the object one by one and ask, What is this?

Pupil’s Activities – Ball, Bulb (light), Book, etc.

Teacher’s remark – Comments and give a great cheer for active participation. Guide the pupils to put Identified in simple sentences.

✏️ – Pencil

 

  • This is a pencil.

 

Note – Make sure the objects are objects familiar with the pupils both at home and in the school. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides pupils to read pictures.

 

 

Pupil’s Activities – Read pictures.

3. Guides pupils to identify objects in class.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify familiar objects in class.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
