WEEK 9 – GYMNASTIC ACTIVITIES WITH APPARATUS
MEANING OF GYMNASTIC ACTIVITIES WITH APPARATUS
Gymnastic activities with apparatus are exercises done using special equipment to improve strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility.
Examples of gymnastic apparatus include:
- Balance beam – a narrow beam for walking, balancing, and jumping.
- Parallel bars – two bars used for swinging, climbing, or supporting the body.
- Horizontal bar – a single bar used for swinging, hanging, and performing tricks.
- Rings – two suspended rings used for holding and swinging the body.
These activities are different from floor exercises because they use equipment to perform the movements.
HOW TO EXECUTE GYMNASTIC ACTIVITIES WITH APPARATUS
A. Balance Beam
1. Stand at one end of the beam with arms raised.
2. Walk carefully on the beam, keeping your body straight.
3. You may do simple jumps or turns while maintaining balance.
4. Step off carefully at the end.
B. Parallel Bars
1. Hold the bars firmly with your hands.
2. Swing your body forward and backward or sideways.
3. Lift or support your body using your arms.
4. Perform simple exercises like dips or swings.
C. Horizontal Bar
1. Grip the bar with both hands.
2. Hang with your body straight.
3. Swing forward and backward or perform rotations if trained.
4. Land safely on a mat after finishing.
D. Rings
1. Hold the rings with both hands.
2. Keep your body straight or perform swings.
3. Lift or hold your body using arm strength.
4. Perform simple movements like raises or swings safely.
