Content
- Description of farm tools:
- Cutlass – It is a short wooden handle and flat blade.
- Axe – It has short heavy metal head with a sharp edge and a long wooden or metal handle.
- Garden fork – It has a four – pronged metal forks with a short wooden handle.
- Seed trays – It has a shallow rectangular containers made of wood or metal.
- Etc.

TOPIC – MAJOR USES OF FARM TOOLS
Content
- Major uses of farm tools
- Cutlass – Clearing weeds, cutting unwanted branches, planting grains and tubers.
- Sickle – Harvesting grains like rice and sorghums.
- Hoe – Weeding and making heaps, ridges, harvesting tubers.
- Axe – Felling of trees, cutting logs, uprooting slumps and splitting firewood.

- Drinking trough – It is a container made of plastic or metal.
- Feeding trough – It is also container made of plastic or metal.
- Fishing net – This is made of wooden ropes. There are scoop net, gills net and cast net.
- Battery cage – It is made of metal with several partitions with feeding and drinking troughs attached to it.

TOPIC – MAJOR USES OF ANIMALS FARM TOOLS
Content
- Drinking trough – Holds water and drugs for animals.
- Feeding trough – Holds feeds (food) or drugs for animals.
- Fishing net – It is used for catching and collecting fish from the river.
- Battery cage – For keeping poultry (bird).
WEEK 8
TOPIC – CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF CROPS AND ANIMALS FARM TOOLS
Content
- Clean the tools after use by washing and drying them under the sun or in a cool place.
- Use the tools for the purpose for which they are made.
- Store tools cleaned, in a safe and try place after use.
- Sharpen the tools in a termite free area.
- Repair all broken or damaged parts.
- Oil and grease the tools.
- Keep records of the movement of farm tools.
- Do not store in head pains and watering cans. Place them upside down after use to ensure proper drying.
