BEHAVIOUR OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the children should be able to,
1. identify and call the name of the teacher, and names of other members of the class appropriately.
2. introduce themselves to the class correctly.
3. grip pencils correctly.
4. perform scribbling activities using crayon and pencil on a magic board.
5. writing of strokes trace slanting ///// and trace vertical strokes |||||.

The teacher will the lesson with the aid of pencils, crayon, magic boards, plastic alphabet, etc.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – SELF INTRODUCTION
Teacher guides the children to introduce themselves by using his/herself as follows:
Hello children, my name is….
And you, what is your name?
Note – Teacher must use body expression as he/she introduced his/herself the the children. For examples – putting your hand on your chest and say, my name is… And point to each of the children, what is your name.
Help the children to introduce themselves. For example – my name is Seun, say it.
LESSON 2 – PRE WRITING SKILLS – GRIPPING PENCIL AND CRAYON
The children are the beginner, teacher encourages and guides them to grip the pencil correctly between the index their finger and thumb and rest it on the middle finger.
Note – This grip becomes more better with practice.
LESSON 3 – SCRIBBLING ACTIVITIES
Teacher allows the children to scribble freely by moving their fingertips. The children can use crayon and pencil on their books or magic boards.
LESSON 4 – TRACING VERTICAL AND SLANTING STROKE LINES
ACTIVITY 1 – TRACING VERTICAL STROKE LINES
Teacher guides the children to trace a vertical lines.

LESSON 5 – SUMMARY
LESSON PRESENTATION
To deliver this lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
LESSON 1
1. Teacher says hello to the children and uses him/her to guide the children to introduce themselves correctly.
Children’s Activities – The children introduce themselves by saying, my name is….

2. Teacher uses pencils and papers to guide the children to hold and grip the pen correctly.
Children’s Activities – The children hold and grip the pencils correctly.

3. Teacher allows the children to scribble freely by moving the fingertips.

5. Teacher summarizes the lesson by asking the children questions based on the lesson taught and gives the children work to do at home.
