This lesson builds on that knowledge by helping pupils understand that the tongue and lips are important parts of the mouth that help in eating, tasting food, speaking, and starting the process of digestion.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
The mouth is one of the most important parts of the human body. It helps us eat, speak, taste food, and communicate with others. Two important parts of the mouth are the tongue and the lips.
LESSON 1 – MEANING OF THE MOUTH
The mouth is the opening through which food enters the body and speech is produced.
1. The Tongue
The tongue is a soft muscular organ found inside the mouth.
Uses of the Tongue
- It helps us taste food.
- It helps in chewing and swallowing food.
- It jelps in speaking and pronunciation of words.
- It helps move food around the mouth during chewing.
2. The Lips
The lips are the soft movable parts that form the opening of the mouth.
Uses of the Lips
- They help in speaking clearly.
- They help hold food and water in the mouth.
- They help in sucking and drinking.
- They protect the mouth from dirt and injury.
- They help in facial expression and communication.
