CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Taking too much of food, drink or drugs is known as an overdose. An overdose can be very dangerous, and even life-threatening, but accidental overdoses can be prevented.
HOW TO HELP PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM FOOD OR DRUG OVERDOSE?
It’s important to be careful with what we eat, drink or the drugs we take, but some people don’t care until they are suffering from the food they eat, drink or drugs they take. To help them, follow the instructions –
1. Report to parents, teacher or any adult around.
2. Stay with the person who has overdosed.
3. Lie the person on his/her side.
4. Talk to the person, if he/she is conscious.
5. Loosen the person any tight clothes.
6. Open a window or take the person outside for fresh air.
7. Take the person to the nearest hospital to see a doctor.
8. Give full details of what happens and how it happens.
9. Call the emergency line.
LESSON 2 – DRAMA ON HOW TO HELP PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM FOOD OR DRUG OVERDOSE
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. Teacher revises the previous lesson based on the relevance.
2. Teacher displays chart showing different people suffering from overdose.
3. Teacher allows the pupils to examine the chart and discuss the causes of their suffering.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and discuss the causes of their suffering.
4. Teacher uses the chart and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads a class discussion on how to help people suffering from too much of food, drink or drugs.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduce and participate actively in class discussion on how to help people suffering from too much of food, drink or drugs.
5. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class to demonstrate how to help people suffering from too much of food, drink or drugs.
