The children can identify and mention some of the place we can find water.

The teacher will the lesson with the aid of sample of water and chart showing different sources of water.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Water in the body is very important to everyone because it keeps us strong and healthy. Our body is mostly made of water. Water in our bodies is in form blood, sweet and urine.

Water in the body helps our bodies do a lot of things, like moving food to our cells, keeping us cool when we’re hot, and helping our bodies get rid of waste.

 

MEANING OF WATER 

Water is a liquid. A good water is clean, clear, and safe to drink. Apart from drinking, we use water for cooking, bathing, brushing our teeth, toileting, planting, washing, etc.

 

WHERE CAN WE FIND WATER? 

Water can be found in many places. We can find water in the ground and in the sky. For examples,

1. In the tap – Tap water is water that is found in the ground and runs through the tap in our homes.

2. In the well – Well water is water that comes from the ground and fetch out with bucket and rope.

3. In the river – River water is fresh water that flows on the ground.

4. In the rainy days – Rain water is liquid water that falls from the sky.

 

LESSON PRESENTATION

To deliver this lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. Teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she has taught or what the children have learnt.

2. Teacher displays a bottle water, a bowl of water and a bucket of water for the children to identify and state their uses.

3. Teacher uses songs to itemized the uses and the importance of water in the body.

Children’s Activities – The children identify and describe the uses and importance water in their bodies.

4. Teacher uses the water displayed and the children’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson, explains the meaning of water and where we can find water.

Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction, understand the meaning of water and where we can find water.

6. Teacher uses chart showing different places where we can find water to guide the children to identify and describe them. Tap water in the school will be great but in the case of well in the school and river around the school, safety first. 

Children’s Activities – The children listen attentively, identify and describe different places we can get water.

7. Teacher summarizes the lesson by asking the children questions based on the lesson taught and gives the children work to do at home.

Children’s Activities – The children participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding to the questions and do their homework at home.
