3. The teacher displays charts containing pairs of synonymous words such as big – large, happy – glad, and fast – quick for the pupils to identify and discuss.

Pupils’ Activities: The pupils identify the synonymous words and discuss their meanings in groups.

4. The teacher uses the charts/flashcards and the pupils’ responses to introduce the lesson and explain the meaning and importance of synonyms.
