LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils have learned descriptive and narrative compositions. The pupils also learned how to describe people, places, and events. In this lesson, they will learn how to explain facts, ideas, and processes through expository writing.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
An expository composition is a piece of writing that explains, informs, or gives facts about a topic. It is written to help readers understand something clearly.
An expository composition does not tell a story. Instead, it explains a subject using facts and simple explanations.

WRITING EXPOSITORY COMPOSITION
1. IMPORTANCE OF WATER
Water is very important in our daily lives. We use water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and washing. Plants and animals also need water to survive. Clean water helps us stay healthy and prevents diseases. Therefore, everyone should use water wisely and keep it clean.
2. MY SCHOOL
My school is a place where children learn and develop good character. It has many classrooms, a staff room, a library, and a playground. The teachers teach different subjects and help pupils understand their lessons. The school also organizes sports and other activities for pupils. My school is clean and peaceful, and I am proud to be a pupil there.
3. GOOD HYGIENE
Good hygiene means keeping our bodies and surroundings clean. We should bathe regularly, wash our hands before eating, and brush our teeth every day. We should also wear clean clothes and keep our fingernails short. Good hygiene helps to prevent diseases and keeps us healthy. Everyone should practise good hygiene at all times.
4. KEEPING OUR ENVIRONMENT CLEAN
A clean environment is important for healthy living. We should sweep our surroundings regularly and dispose of waste properly. We should not throw rubbish on the ground or in drainage channels. Planting trees and keeping our surroundings tidy make the environment beautiful. Keeping our environment clean helps to prevent diseases and makes our community a better place to live.
5. USES OF ELECTRICITY
Electricity is very useful in our daily lives. It is used for lighting homes, schools, and offices. Electricity powers appliances such as fans, televisions, refrigerators, and computers. It also helps industries and businesses operate effectively. Because electricity is important, we should use it carefully and avoid wasting it.
LESSON SUMMARY
Pupils learned the meaning, features, and structure of an expository composition and practised writing short compositions on given topics using simple facts and clear explanations.
