By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain the meaning of a home.

2. name the different parts of a home.

3. state uses of each part of a home.

The pupils can identify and explain the meaning of home.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. A picture of a home.

2. A chart showing different parts of the home.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Take the pupils to the nearest teacher’s or parent’s home (on visitation or permission) for the pupils to identify different parts of the home and discuss their uses. OR Display charts showing different parts of a home for pupils to identify the parts of the home.

Pupil’s Responses – This is the parlour (sitting room), bedroom, etc.

Teacher’s remark – Home is a place (house) where people live as a family. There are different parts of home (as the pupils mentioned) with different uses. Write on board different parts of home and their uses as identity and discussed by the pupils.

 

MEANING OF HOME 

Home a house or apartment where people lives as a family.

 

DIFFERENT PARTS OF A HOME AND THEIR USES

1. Bedrooms

2. Sitting (Living) room, commonly called parlour.

LESSON 2 – USES OF DIFFERENT PARTS OF A HOME AND THEIR USES

1. Bedroom

  • The bedroom is where we sleep.

 

2. Sitting/living room

  • The sitting or living is where we welcome (entertain) visitors and relax.

 

3. Bathroom

  • The bathroom is where we have our bath.

 

4. Toilet

  • The toilet is where we pass out waste product from the body.

 

5. Kitchen

  • The kitchen is where we cook.

 

6. Dining

 

 

  • The dining room is where we eat our food.

 

7. Store

  • The store is where we keep our foodstuff, kitchen equipments and other things.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
