CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Personal security refers to the state of being safe from danger or harm. It is the protection of oneself and one’s property from threats such as theft, violence, or cyber attacks. Examples of personal security measures include:

1. Locking doors and windows to prevent break-inside.

2. Carrying pepper spray or a personal alarm for self-defense.

3. Using strong passwords and two-factor authentication to secure online accounts.

4. Being aware of one’s surroundings and avoiding dangerous situations.

 

PRECAUTION TIPS ON PERSONAL SECURITY

1. Be aware of your surroundings at all times and trust your instincts. If something or someone makes you feel uncomfortable, leave the area immediately.

2. Avoid walking alone, especially at night. Try to walk in well-lit areas with plenty of people around.

3. Keep your personal belongings secure and never leave them unattended.

4. Use bags with zippers or closures and keep them close to your body.

5. Carry only necessary items with you and avoid displaying large amounts of cash or valuable items.

6. Be careful with sharing personal information, especially in public places or online. Be cautious of who you share your contact information with.

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF PERSONAL SECURITY

Personal security is essential for maintaining a safe and secure environment for oneself and those around them. It is an important aspect of self-care and responsible living in today’s complex and sometimes unpredictable world. The importance of personal security are as follows –

1. To protect oneself from physical harm, theft, or other dangers that may arise in their daily lives.

2. To preserve one’s well-being and peace of mind.

3. To prevent potential crime.

4. To safeguarding personal information.

5. To prevent unauthorised access or misuse to one’s personal information and data such as financial details, passwords, and other personal data.

6. To build confidence and independence. That’s, build self-reliance and resilience in facing challenges.

7. To promot a sense of control that lead to greater self-esteem and a sense of autonomy.

8. To ensure peace of mind without constant worry about their safety.

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION, LESSON EVALUATION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions.

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups or pair depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays chart showing security dog, safe, camera, detector, etc. for the pupils to identify and discuss their necessity.

4. Teacher actively participated in the pupils discussions by giving them clues where necessary.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and discuss the usefulness of security dog, safe, camera, detector, etc.

5. Teacher uses the chart and pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads class discussion on the precaution tips on personal security.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussions.

7. Teacher leads the pupils to identify and discuss the importance of personal security.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils appreciate the importance of personal security at home, school, community and while traveling.
