By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
1. Explain the meaning of computer system.
2. Mention the component of computer system.
3. Explain the meaning of hardware and software.
4. attempt 70% (and above) of the weekly assessment correctly.
ENTRY BEHAVIOURS
The pupils can define computer and describe the components of computer system with appropriate examples.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of functional computer system.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION (MEANING)
COMPUTER SYSTEM
Computer is an electronic machine that accepts data as input, processes the data and gives out information.
COMPONENT OF COMPUTER SYSTEM
There are three major components of a computer system –
1. Computer Hardware
2. Computer Software
3. Computer Human (People) Ware
LESSON TWO – MEANING (EXAMPLES) OF COMPUTER HARDWARE
These are components of computer system that can be seen and touched by the hands.
Examples of computer hardware are –
1. keyboard
2. Monitor
3. Mouse
4. System unit
5. Webcam
6. Speakers
7. CD/DVD-ROM
8. Card reader
9. Flash drive
10. Scanner
11. Printer
MEANING (EXAMPLE) OF COMPUTER SOFTWARE
These are written programs, instructions or protocol that control and make computer function.
Computer software can not be touch but can only be seen on the monitor.
There are two types of computer software, application software and system software.
1. Application software performs certain task depending on the program.
2. System software run the whole system.
COMPUTER HUMAN (PEOPLE) WARE
Human ware refers to the human beings that use the system.
In other words, the users of the computer system are the end – users and professional alike.
Examples of human wares are –
1. Computer Teachers
2. Computer Engineers
3. Computer Operators
4. Computer Programmers
5. Computer Managers
6. Computer Analysts
7. Computer Librarians
8. Computer Policy makers

LESSON 3 – DETAILS OF HUMAN WARES
1. COMPUTER TEACHERS
Computer teachers are the pupils who teach computer studies/science at the primary schools, secondary schools, higher institutions and private institutes or training centres.
2. COMPUTER ENGINEERS
Computer engineers are the people who detect computer fault and repair them.
They also install application and system software in the computer.
3. COMPUTER OPERATORS
Computer operators are people that operate computer for private and business purposes.
4. COMPUTER PROGRAMMERS
Computer programmers are the people who design, write, troubleshoot and maintain the source code of computer programs.
5. COMPUTER MANAGERS
Computer managers are the people who manage, develop and implement computer goals and objectives.
6. COMPUTER ANALYSTS
Computer analysts are the people who analyse, design and implement system information.
They also install new systems or upgrade existing systems.
Computer analysts are also known as system analysts.
7. COMPUTER LIBRARIANS
Computer librarians are the people who keep records and safeguarding both the hard and soft copies of library books and other materials on the computer system.
8. COMPUTER POLICY MAKERS
Computer policy makers are people who create and write instructions for computer system.
9. COMPUTER END USERS
Computer end users are the people who use computer systems for private and business purposes.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays a functional computer system (if available) or chart should computer system.
3. Lets pupils identify and define computer system.
Pupil’s Activities – Identify and explain the meaning of computer system.
4. Leads a discussion on the different components of computer system.
Pupil’s Activities – State the computer of computer systems with appropriate examples.
5. Displays charts showing people using computer system starting which computer teacher.
Pupil’s Activities – Identify different computer users.
7. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
