TIME – 40 Minutes each.

 

LEARNING OUTCOME 

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to –

1. multiply 3-digit numbers by 3-digit numbers.

2. multiply a decimal by another decimal.

3. multiply a fraction by another fraction.

 

RATIONALE

As children handle money, share items between friends and cut food into portions they are beginning to build up their division and multiplication skills as part of their everyday life. Being introduced to these ideas at an early age will mean that as well as gaining confidence in the subject, they will be able to utilise these skills in the wider world.

 

 

LEARNING MATERIALS 

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Flash cards.

Abacus.

Fraction chart.

Cardboard.

 

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

The pupils have the ability to perform basic multiplication skills and apply it to their daily activities.
