ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

In the previous lesson, pupils learned how to create simple drawings and designs using CorelDRAW, including the use of basic drawing tools and editing features.

Building on that knowledge, pupils will now learn how to create and edit drawings using Adobe Photoshop, another popular computer graphics application. They will identify its tools and understand how Photoshop is used to create, edit, colour, and improve digital images and designs.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Computers can be used to create beautiful drawings and designs. While Microsoft Paint is used for simple drawings, Adobe Photoshop provides more tools for creating colourful pictures, editing photographs, painting, and designing graphics.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of Adobe Photoshop, its uses, the Photoshop workspace, common drawing tools, and how to create simple drawings using the software. 

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

Adobe Photoshop is a computer application used for drawing, painting, editing photographs, designing graphics, and creating digital artworks.

It is one of the most popular graphic design and image editing software programs.

BASIC DRAWING TOOLS IN ADOBE PHOTOSHOP AND THEIR FUNCTIONS

1. Move Tool – Moves objects or pictures to another position.

2. Brush Tool – Draws or paints using different colours and brush sizes.

3. Pencil Tool – Draws freehand lines with sharp edges.

4. Eraser Tool – Removes unwanted parts of a drawing or picture.

5. Paint Bucket Tool – Fills an enclosed area with colour.

6. Gradient Tool – Fills an area with a smooth blend of colours.

7. Line Tool – Draws straight lines.

8. Rectangle Tool – Draws rectangles and squares.

9. Ellipse Tool – Draws circles and ovals.

10. Polygon Tool – Draws different polygon shapes.

11. Text Tool (Type Tool) – Adds words or letters to a drawing.

SUMMARY
