CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
MEANING OF LONG JUMP
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a take off point.
The long jump can be broken down into three (or four) phases. The approach. take off, (flight) and landing.
BASIC STYLES IN LONG JUMP
1. THE SAIL

LESSON 2 – LONG JUMP ACTIVITIES
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays chart showing long jump activities.
3. Lets the pupils identify and describe the activities on the chart.
Pupil’s Activities – Describe the activities on the chart.
4. Takes the pupils to the school’s long jump pitch (if available) or improve with plank and sawdust (if not available).
5. Uses the chart, long jump pitch and their responses to introduce and describe the long jump activities.
6. Leads a discussion on basic styles in long jump.
Pupil’s Activities – Listen to teacher’s explanations; Practices styles in the long jump; Ask questions.
7. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively on the summary and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
