LEARNING AREA
Review of the previous term’s work.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
recall all what has been taught in the previous term.

WRITING INSTRUCTION
Copy as I write or draw as I write. This instruction should be given when you need the pupils to write or draw.
CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1, WEEK 1 – WEEK 6
WEEK 1 –MEANING OF COMPUTER STUDIES
This is a computer. A computer is a machine that counts, calculates and draws.
Computer thinks and calculates faster than you.
Television looks like a computer but it is not a computer.
LESSON EVALUATION
Ask pupils to –
1. fill in the missing letters: C __ M __ U T __ R,
2. name anything in your house that looks like a computer,
3. do you have a computer in your house?
WEEK 2 – PARTS OF COMPUTER
Computer has different parts and they are the monitor, system unit, keyboard, Mouse, speakers and printer.
LESSON EVALUATION
Ask pupils to mention 3 parts of computer and match each picture with correct name on the chart.
LESSON 3 – SYSTEM UNIT
Teachers – What is this?
Pupils – This is a system UNIT.
System unit is also called CPU or Central Processing Unit.
The system Unit counts, calculates and stores what we type into the computer. We can make use of what is stored in the system when it is needed.
LESSON EVALUATION
Ask pupils to –
1. identify system unit among other parts of computer,
2. describe a system unit.
3. draw a system unit.
LESSON 2, WEEK 4 – WEEK 11
LESSON 4 – COMPUTER MONITOR
Teacher – What is this?
Pupils – This is a monitor (expected response – television).
The monitor is like a television. It shows everything that we type into the computer. It also shows the games we play on the computer.
LESSON EVALUATION
Ask pupils to –
1. does the television look like the monitor? Yes/No
2. how is the monitor in your school’s computer room different from the television at home?
3. draw a computer monitor.
LESSON 5 – COMPUTER KEYBOARD
Teacher – What is this?
Pupils – This is a computer keyboard.
The keyboard is used for typing into the computer.
We see whatever is typed into the computer on the monitor.
The keyboard of a typewriter is like the keyboard of a computer.
A keyboard contains letters of the alphabet – A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z.
The keyboard also contains the numbers – 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
LESSON EVALUATION
Ask pupils to –
1. point to the computer keyboard in pictures or on charts.
2. name and colour the picture of computer parts – keyboard.
3. differentiate between computer keyboard and phone keyboard.
4. draw a computer keyboard.
LESSON 6 – COMPUTER MOUSE
The mouse is used for sending messages into the computer.
There are two buttons on the mouse. To send a message, we click one button once or twice.
LESSON EVALUATION
Ask pupils to name and colour the picture of computer parts – draw.
Note – From Week 7 – Week 12 are drawing.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Discuss each lessons of first term’s work.
Pupil’s Activities – Active participation in the class discussion.
3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
